Beat Jet Lag!

jet-lag

Did you know that acupressure is an easy and effective way to reduce the effects of jet lag?

Traveling across time zones and the natural disruptions of flying can wreak havoc with our circadian rhythms, causing the phenomena known as “jet lag”. You know the symptoms: feeling tired and lethargic, unable to sleep when you want to, sometimes for up to a few days into your trip. More sensitive folks can be thrown off for even longer. I know that when I get away, I want to maximize every minute of my precious time.

There are many suggestions out there to battle jet lag: don’t drink too much alcohol, don’t nap until bedtime of your new temporary time zone, exercise, stay hydrated. Melatonin can help, but doctors warn against using it more than once a travel event. Overused, it can actually make things worse, and many report that it causes weird dreams.

When my spouse and I traveled from San Francisco to Paris, I did some acupressure that minimized the effects of jet lag and helped ease the disruption to our body clocks. We were off and exploring that wondrous city in no time! If you or someone you know would like to learn more about this simple acupressure technique, come to my new workshop: “Beat Jet Lag!”
